Adam Gase The New Head Coach Of The Miami Dolphins

Written By;
Anthony Sanchez

The Miami Dolphins have made their choice as to who will be the next head coach collectively as a management team and with final say by owner Stephen Ross, the Miami Dolphins make Adam Gase the youngest head coach in the NFL at age 37.

The team has also made it clear that new head coach Adam Gase will take over play calling duties and will have final say on the 53 man roster.

Adam Gase might not be a house hold name to many in the public, but in the coaching community he is revered. There was plenty of praise from current players he has coached, colleagues, and football purist who have witnessed his growth as a graduate assistant at LSU under Nick Saban and the culmination of now becoming the 12th head coach in franchise history for the Miami Dolphins.

Adam this past season served as offensive coordinator for the Chicago Bears where he brought a more balanced attack, which in turn helped the team go from being ranked 27th to 11th in rushing.

Adam, also was the offensive coordinator in 2013 and 2014 for the Denver Broncos where he helped the team acquire the title of greatest offense in NFL history by averaging 34 points per game, totaling 430.1 yards per game and a passing offense that averaged 315.8 yards per game.

Adam Gase in many circles is considered a "quarterback guru", a quarterback whisperer of sorts.

Dolphins vice president Mike Tannenbaum was quoted as saying "We wanted to get the right Leader, someone that can relate to young talented players that we believe we have and somebody who has high energy and competitive, when we looked at Adam he had all those attributes".

Miami Dolphins team owner Stephen Ross said; "Like in Business, if you find the right guy, why give a chance for someone else to grab him?"

Mr. Ross, also said; " It's amazing the respect Adam has in the coaching and player community. That really says an awful lot. He's of the hardest - working, smartest guys in the business."

Now the process begins, first things first, newly appointed head coach Adam Gase must put together a strong coaching staff, then he will have to focus on his roster, free agency, the draft and getting ready to take the reins as the new head man for the Miami Dolphins in 2016.

The Miami Dolphins Narrowly Escape With A Win On Sunday

Written By;

The Miami Dolphins hosted the Baltimore Ravens on Sunday and escaped with a win, narrowly beating the Ravens 15-13. This was a matchup between two teams at (4-7), who are underachieving and not meeting expectations.

The Miami Dolphins passing game and Ryan Tannehill were anemic to say the least, Tannehill passing for eighty six yards on 9/19 with a touchdown. I will say the bright spot in the passing game for the second week in a row is the emergence of rookie first round pick wide receiver Devante Parker, Devante Parker made a spectacular catch on a thirty eight yard strike from quarterback Ryan Tannehill.

I will say head coach Dan Campbell kept to his word in which he said the offense would run the ball more and establish a more physical style upfront.

The running game came to life and running back Lamar Miller had a solid game leading the charge on twenty carries for 113 yards, the offensive line did a pretty good job all day in the running game opening holes for the backs to hit.

The true savior of the game goes to the entire Miami Dolphins defense, who time after time came up with big stops and timely turnovers that turned into points.

Olivier Vernon had four tackles along with 2.5 sacks, Derrick Shelby had a deflection in which he caught himself for a pick six interception return, Reshad Jones pitched in with seven tackles and a key interception that was first tipped by rookie defensive tackle Jordan Phillips and the run defense held Baltimore's Javorius Allen to 63 yards rushing.

This was a gritty win by the team and by no means does this make them a great team or some type of threat in the AFC, but it does show the fight and resolve in this team under Dan Campbell. The Dolphins are clearly flawed but they did screech out a win and with that win it also keeps them mathematically alive in the playoff race, hopefully the team can gain some momentum in these next four games, where three out of the four will be home games and have a chance to finish 9-7.

The Many Hats Of Miami Dolphins Wide Receiver Jarvis Landry

One of the most constant and dependable players for the Miami Dolphins has been wide receiver Jarvis Landry.  Landry is the first player in team history with at least one rushing attempt, one reception, one completion, one punt return, one kickoff return and one two point conversion in the same season.

It is still early in Jarvis Landry's career, but you can not ignore the superstar qualities that he undoubtedly possess and has shown since being drafted by Miami in the second round with the sixty third pick in 2014 from LSU.

Jarvis Landry has become what OJ Mcduffie was to Dan Marino, a dependable, gritty, feisty, reliable wide receiver, who just makes plays. Quarterback Ryan Tannehill has learned to lean and depend on Jarvis Landry to make the improbable catch, the gritty extension for a first down and the ability to provide explosive plays.

Offensive Coordinator Bill Lazor has used the wide receiver in many facets this season, Landry has thrown for a nine yard pass to Ryan Tannehill that resulted in a first down, accumulated 53 receptions for 535 yards and two touchdowns, while also attempting 12 rushes for 95 yards and one touchdown.

Jarvis Landry has been very exciting to watch on special teams, he is a player that at any moment can break one and take it to the house for a score, as he did this year against the Washington Redskins
where he evaded four defenders en route to a 69 yard punt return for a touchdown, which helped seal the victory.

The team has reached the midway point of their season and stand at 3-5 not exactly where Jarvis Landry and the Miami Dolphins saw themselves, but it is not due to lack of play, passion or heart from their ever growing wide receiver Jarvis Landry, who continues to embody what every coach looks for in it's players the ability to want to win, to play hard, to not give up to keep pressing forward and this is something Jarvis Landry does week in and week out.

Miami Dolphins Louis Delmas Goes Down With A Torn ACL

Written by;
Anthony Sanchez

The Miami Dolphins did not want to hear about a key injury early on in the preseason, but they were dealt a blow today with FS Louis Delmas going down with a torn ACL in his right knee.

Louis Delmas was carted off the field during joint practice against the Carolina Panthers, per reports it was a non contact injury on the same knee he tore last year and that issue forced him to injured reserve.

Delmas was going to lead the back end of the secondary alongside SS Reshad Jones, now the Miami Dolphins who were really hoping that Louis Delmas knee problems would not surface back up have to really evaluate their young talent at free safety which includes the likes of Walt Aikens, rookie Cedric Thompson and Michael Thomas.

Miami Dolphins Day Three of Training Camp

Written by;
Anthony Sanchez

The Miami Dolphins begin day three of training camp today, the pads come on the feel is almost like christmas for most of these guys the physicality and intensity seemed to be turned up compared to the first two days of camp. There was a good crowd on hand albeit under cloudy skies to witness the first day of training camp, you can feel the anxiousness, anticipation and excitement oozing from the fan base.

The offense had its ups and downs today, I will start with the bad because there is no way around it the offensive line looked really bad today as they just seemed overwhelmed on the first day of pads.
The offensive line spent the morning being pushed around and not just the guards, Jason Fox, Ja'wuan James, Billy Turner and Dallas Thomas all ended up on the ground at least once. The bright spots on the line were Mike Pouncey continuing his strong start of training camp along with rookie Jamil Douglas who was on the first team to start drills and showed some promise, definitely showed more in the brief time of being here than all of Dallas Thomas's tenure. A side note is left tackle Branden Albert was not in full pads as expected, but was lining up at left tackle for first time in warm ups.

Ryan Tannehill looking sharp, confident, decisive and to be quite honest very accurate, had a good day was anticipating throws and placing the ball where it needed to be allowing the skill players to make plays.

The surprise on offense today was the day had by running back Lamichael James who looked sharp was making people miss, had a nice stuffing block in pass drills and all morning showed off his quickness, shiftiness and decisiveness. The negative on the running back position today belongs to rookie Jay Ajayi who continually was getting stuffed at the line of scrimmage and will need to lower his pad level running to high.

The wide receivers were on display today, especially Jarvis Landry and Greg Jennings who just seemed to have a bond or connection if you will with their quarterback Ryan Tannehill.
Jarvis Landry really showed out today by far the star of practice at least on the offensive side of the ball just continues to make star studded receptions and is reliable to make the catch. Veteran wide receiver Greg Jennings had a nice day receiving showing off his crisp and smooth route running and continued to make plays for Ryan Tannehill.

Now to the brightest unit on the field and that hands down belonged to the defense who showed its fan base a glimpse of what can be. The story of day three in camp is the complete domination by the defensive line over the offensive line in day one of pads. Ndamukong Suh and Cam Wake lined up side by side causing havoc up front exclamated by the blowing up of offensive lineman Billy Turner and Ja'wuan James in pass Rush drills.

Terrence Fede had a nice practice and showing in rush drills adding a sack on quarterback Matt Moore, also along the defensive line behemoth rookie Jordan Phillips impressed by making plays behind the line of scrimmage stopping running backs for minus yards and you can not leave out Olivier Vernon who provided constant pressure throughout practice, including two would be sacks.

The linebackers that stood out to me today were Jordan Tripp who showed he can play, had quite a few stops for short gain, flying all over the field and came up with a would be sack on quarterback Ryan Tannehill. The other player that caught my attention was Chris McCain who was back on the first team outside linebacker spot flying around applying pressure and showing he can play in this league.

The secondary had a solid day, cornerback Jamar Taylor was looking confident and for sure making a statement for that second cornerback spot behind Brent Grimes, Taylor looked much more aggressive and physical out there making plays. Safety Walt Aikens had a good day as well, showing growth from year one to year two, rookie safety Ced Thompson got the first interception of the day picking off quarterback Mcleod Bethel-Thompson, you can also add veteran safety and special teams specialist Michael Thomas to the list of players with a good showing today, also nabbing himself an
interception off of quarterback Matt Moore.

Day three is a wrap and what all Miami Dolphin fans can walk away with today is there is something special brewing with this defense skies the limit. All eyes were on the offensive and defensive lines on the first day of pads and there was no doubt that today's story is revolved around the defense completely dominating the offensive line making a statement in pads.

I will say that things must be kept in perspective today, it is only day three of training camp and it was the first day of pads going up against a stout and powerful defensive line, but there is no doubt the offensive line needs to get to work and clean many things up, the Miami Dolphins next scheduled practice is set for Sunday August 2nd, 2015 at 8am.

Miami Dolphins sign defensive tackle to solidify Defensive line Depth

Written By:
Anthony Sanchez

The Miami Dolphins today have solidified and added depth to an already monstrous defensive line by signing ten year veteran defensive tackle CJ Mosley to a one year deal. Mosley has been around the block playing for various teams such as; Minnesota Vikings, NY Jets, Cleveland Browns, Jacksonville Jaguars and most recent the Detroit Lions. The Miami Dolphins have made it a point of emphasis to bolster their run defense this offseason by signing the likes of Ndamakong Suh formerly of the Detroit Lions, drafting Jordan Phillips of the Oklahoma Sooners and now signing the 6'2 310 lbs run stuffer CJ Mosley who also played alongside Suh in Detroit. For the Miami Dolphins this is a great signing bringing in a veteran that more than likely will be the third defensive tackle in the depth chart behind Earl Mitchell and the beast Ndamakong Suh. CJ Mosley's 2014 saw him rack up twenty-six tackles, one forced fumble and two an a half sacks. I can see Joe Philbin and the Miami Dolphins brass really excited to add a veteran of his caliber that will bring toughness, run stuffing ability and the experience of playing at a high level in the NFL, which in turn can be a good mentoring experience for some of the young talent on the current Miami Dolphins defensive line roster.

Basic Facts To Organizing A Football Team From The Inside Out

                                                                  Posted by;
                                                                 Anthony Sanchez

The way to build a professional football team is like an architect in how you build and choose where to start from, my preference and Ideology of how to build is from the inside out on both sides of the ball. On offense you start with the offensive line without them you have no run game or passing game, then you look at quarterback and then your defensive line which is your life line to apply pressure to opposing offense's beginning with stopping the run and pressuring the quarterback. These two sides of the ball are what I consider the base of any team, it should be well documented that whenever you think about starting or revising a team's structure you must also have your front office in order to make sound and collective decisions to improve the state of the organization.

The building of the offensive line will in turn help solidify the quarterback position, I feel in building an offensive line you start with the blind side of your quarterback which could be a left tackle or right tackle and then you find yourself a center who can be the second voice on offense aside from your quarterback who can make line changes and blitz calls. Now to determine the right signal caller this can be accomplished by collectively deciding between the coaches, general manager, Vice President of football operations and owner on the qualities, skills, direction, coachability, and ceiling of whom they choose to be the quarterback. In my opinion the starter should have a strong arm, but at the same time provide touch to excel in making the difficult throws, should have capability to read defenses, strong understanding of the game and in all honesty needs to have the biggest heart, determination and ability to command respect from the players in the huddle to lead his team, an additional quality that I put stock into is to be intellectually sound on the field, which is just as important as being physically gifted. A good quarterback at no time panics, must try to have grace, patience and poise to get through bad games and to me a key ingredient to a quarterback's success is comprehension and knowledge of the playbook. The organization must do it's best to choose the right guy, because choosing the wrong quarterback can set your team back a few years and put the organization in a bind. Once the starting quarterback is decided upon you should then really look at a primary backup who should be someone non-disruptive to the team, professional and most importantly accepts his role to fulfill the teams common goal, this person understands he does not have to win the game, in my opinion a successful backup quarterback knows he does not need to be a savior, just let the players around him perform.

 Now we focus the attention to the other side of the ball the defense, where it all starts up front with the big guys. The defensive tackle is not a glamorous position, but one of thee most important on a team, that player must be able to take on blocks, shed blocks, take up space to stuff the run and agile enough to help apply pressure up the middle. The next position on the line that is important are your defensive ends and this will take a little more research and scouting, because they do not grow on trees. The defensive end that I personally would scout is one who can get up field and apply pressure, one who can disengage from their block to make tackles, not just a pass rusher but with the balance to run stop as well, self motivated and someone with a very high motor.  The defensive line that a coaching staff puts together should be fundamentally sound, can pass rush as well as plug the lanes in order to stuff the run. A good to great defensive line has the ability to smash opponents in the mouth and bring a ferocity to the field to intimidate. If as a coaching staff you can put a defensive line together with those characteristics in turn it will help other positions on the defense stand out that much more and can help cover some deficiencies, for example the linebackers, secondary will feed of the pressure and intensity helping the linebackers keep the offensive lineman off them and the secondary the ability to make plays in the pass game. A big focus for me on the defensive side of the ball really boils down to a coaching staff conveying the importance of all eleven men knowing their assignments, especially with how creative offenses have become with shifts, motion, tempo and deception. In my opinion a great thought and mind set is to instill in your defense attitude, that no matter what happens no opponent should ever break the plain of the end zone you're defending and when they do score it should be taken personal, when the team learns to apply this attitude the evidence will be in their play, confidence, their knowledge and understanding of their assignments and in the bottom line which is to stop all that line up across from you.

My final thoughts starting with the offense boils down to execution, blocking, smart play and the ability of all five offensive linemen to be on the same page with their quarterback and coaches. On the defensive side it is really about attitude and the trust you have in your teammates to execute and know their assignment to the play being called in. In the end it comes around full circle and the bottom line is in order to ascend your team to a more competitive state it starts and finishes in the trenches, I believe if you have that under control the possibilities of success on the football field are vastly increased.
