The Miami Dolphins Narrowly Escape With A Win On Sunday

The Miami Dolphins hosted the Baltimore Ravens on Sunday and escaped with a win, narrowly beating the Ravens 15-13. This was a matchup between two teams at (4-7), who are underachieving and not meeting expectations.

The Miami Dolphins passing game and Ryan Tannehill were anemic to say the least, Tannehill passing for eighty six yards on 9/19 with a touchdown. I will say the bright spot in the passing game for the second week in a row is the emergence of rookie first round pick wide receiver Devante Parker, Devante Parker made a spectacular catch on a thirty eight yard strike from quarterback Ryan Tannehill.

I will say head coach Dan Campbell kept to his word in which he said the offense would run the ball more and establish a more physical style upfront.

The running game came to life and running back Lamar Miller had a solid game leading the charge on twenty carries for 113 yards, the offensive line did a pretty good job all day in the running game opening holes for the backs to hit.

The true savior of the game goes to the entire Miami Dolphins defense, who time after time came up with big stops and timely turnovers that turned into points.

Olivier Vernon had four tackles along with 2.5 sacks, Derrick Shelby had a deflection in which he caught himself for a pick six interception return, Reshad Jones pitched in with seven tackles and a key interception that was first tipped by rookie defensive tackle Jordan Phillips and the run defense held Baltimore's Javorius Allen to 63 yards rushing.

This was a gritty win by the team and by no means does this make them a great team or some type of threat in the AFC, but it does show the fight and resolve in this team under Dan Campbell. The Dolphins are clearly flawed but they did screech out a win and with that win it also keeps them mathematically alive in the playoff race, hopefully the team can gain some momentum in these next four games, where three out of the four will be home games and have a chance to finish 9-7.
